"YOGA TOOLS FOR SCHOOLS" will be presented by Amy M. Starkey, COTA/L, RYT-200, a pediatric occupational therapy assistant and registered yoga instructor with twenty years of experience in school based and clinic/home-based pediatric O.T. and yoga for children.
Amy is the founder of YOGA-2-GO, LLC, a therapeutic children's yoga business located in Greenville, SC, offering yoga and mindfulness programs to schools and youth-centered organizations throughout the Upstate.
She works with chilldren of various ages and ability levels to provide sensory-based yoga therapy sessions and consults directly with teachers, therapists and parents to provide yoga and mindfulness self-regulation strategies for children in their home and classroom settings.
At the completion of this 2 hour inservice, participants will be able to:
1) identify sensory and behavioral issues that may be negatively affecting a student's ability to learn
2) identify easy to implement classroom sensory strategies to assist educators with common concerns
3) identify and learn how to use a variety of yoga breathes, poses, movement games and other sensory-based strategies to encourage optimal learning, behavior and self regulation throughout the school day
* Workshop qualifies attendees for 2 CEUs for occupational therapists/assistants and 2 hours of professional development for educators.
